SXSW Day 1: Mondo’s AUDYSSEY Pop Up Record Store

SXSW Day 1: Mondo’s AUDYSSEY Pop Up Record Store

We stopped by the Mondo AUDYSSEY Pop Up Record Store at SXSW!

Last week, Mondo announced that it would be opening a Pop Up Record Store during SXSW. The Pop Up Shop would feature titles from Mondo, Death Waltz, One Way Static, Waxwork Records, and others! Mondo also announced that it would stock a large assortment of titles, including previously sold out vinyl like Drive, Jurassic Park, and others!

The Pop-Up shop will also premiere the vinyl soundtrack for the film A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night – the first Iranian Vampire Western ever made. The double LP is housed inside a die-cut jacket with two interchangeable inner sleeves and will feature an exclusive variant pressing in Bright White & Onyx Black limited to 500 copies at the event.

We arrived at the shop about 15 minutes after it opened, and there were already about 50 people in line waiting to get checked out. Unfortunately, all of the key Mondo titles like Jurassic Park (Gold Variant), Drive, Batman 7″ Singles, were already sold out. However, they still had a great selection of other previously sold out titles:

  • Halloween
  • ParaNorman (RSD Glow-in-the-dark variant)
  • Blue Sunshine
  • Cannibal Holocaust
  • A Cat in the Bun
  • Here Comes the Devil
  • Iron Giant (Metal Variant)
  • Studio Ghibli Kokyo Kyokushu
  • Mondo Test Presses
  • Oblivion

It was great to finally get our hands on a few titles that had been sitting on our wantlist for a while, and not have to get price-gouged on eBay.

Did any of you guys catch the pop up shop? What did you get your hands on? Let us know!
