Leong Lau – That Rongeng Sound // Left Ear Records [LTD To 500]

Left Ear Records’ reissue of Leong Lau’s That Rongeng Sound is now available on limited edition vinyl via Light in the Attic Records.

That Rongeng Sound was originally released in 1977 via Leong Lau’s Sunscape Label. The LP is considered one of the most interesting and rare records of the 1970’s by many Australian collectors, and features a unique fusion of jazz, funk and blues. Original copies of That Rongeng Sound have yielded upwards of $800 at auction!

Taking its title from the sound characteristic to music from Lau’s Malaysian birthplace, That Rongeng Sound fuses elements of rock, funk, blues, folk and jazz in a manner that doesn’t simply imitate American and British influences but forges a unique Malay-jazz meets Aus-funk identity. -Left Ear Records

Left Ear Records, in collaboration with Leong Lau, have made That Rongeng Sound available once again to record collectors everywhere with a limited edition reissue of Lau’s seminal album. The LP is limited to 500 copies and comes packaged in high quality Stoughton press tip-on gatefold covers that features exclusive artwork and a bio of Leong Lau.

About The Author

My vinyl obsession began with a few records that were given to me as a gift. Little did I know that this was the spark that would merge my impulsive habit of collecting things and love for music into my new passion. My claim to fame? Owning all of The Mars Volta's studio releases, including the infamous 'Frances the Mute' album pressed on glow-in-the-dark vinyl. I'm always on the lookout for the new stuff and lovingly embrace the classic stuff. I'm here to help you be on the forefront of this vinyl resurgence. Give me a shout on twitter!
