Electronic Anthology Project & Ben Gibbard // Death Cab For Cutie Synth Pop Covers [UPDATE]

Pre order the limited 7 inch from Electronic Anthology Project’s upcoming pop-synth makeovers of two of The Postal Service’s iconic tracks.

It seems Ben Gibbard has his hands full these days, touring with the Postal Service as well as playing several shows with Death Cab for Cutie. What’s next? Oh, you know, just a collaboration with the Electronic Anthology Project (aka Brett Nelson, also from Built to Spill).

Two classic Death Cab for Cutie songs are getting the Brett Nelson pop-synth makeover: “Soul Meets Body” (from 2005’s Plans) and “Champagne from a Paper Cup” (from 1998’s Something About Airplanes). The tracks will be released digitally on July 2.

I know what you’re thinking, “This is cool news, but what’s this doing on a vinyl blog site!?” Well, both of these will be pressed on a colored 7″ following the digital release! Calm down, geez…

No release date or pressing quantities yet, but we just want to stay ahead of the curve by letting you guys know it’s coming. Don’t worry, we’ll be the first ones to let you know when it does.

The limited 7″ will be pressed on colored vinyl and is now available for pre order here.
