Dent May – Warm Blanket // Paw Tracks

Insound’s got a great, new pre order available: Dent May’s upcoming album Warm Blanket.

Warm Blanket isn’t your typical pre order, however. They’re going to throw in a little extra gift for you. No, it’s not some lame gift like stickers or pins. That’s so 2005. If you order Dent May’s new album they’re going to throw in a free bottle of bubble bath! (While supplies last of course) FINALLY, we get a gift we actually want to use. What? Nobody takes bubble baths anymore? Pfft…clearly you’re missing out…but luckily Insound has you covered…in bubbles. (You can thank me for that pun later). Pre order here.

Warm Blanket is the third album from Mississippi songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Dent May. Recorded in solitude in a reportedly haunted Victorian house by the bay in St. Augustine, Florida, the album arrives just barely a year after the release of his previous LP Do Things. Dent’s most ambitious undertaking yet, Warm Blanketis another kaleidoscopic odyssey through the restless musical mind of a DIY pop auteur. He played almost all of the instruments on the album, making use of the house’s antique grand piano and recruiting Florida locals to fill in on horns, strings, and pedal steel guitar. The result is an album of existential pop, psychedelic funk, and melancholy soul with soaring arrangements ripped from the pages of classic American songwriting. Lyrically, Dent investigates life’s timeless mysteries, touching on youth, mortality, alienation, and unrequited love with startling honesty and humor.

The album is pressed on clear/blue swirled vinyl. No pressing quantities listed, but it is a limited release. Pre order will ship on or before the 8/27 release date and will also ship with an exclusive poster and a digital download. This is a truly exciting vinyl that we can’t wait to get our hands on.

My vinyl obsession began with a few records that were given to me as a gift. Little did I know that this was the spark that would merge my impulsive habit of collecting things and love for music into my new passion. My claim to fame? Owning all of The Mars Volta's studio releases, including the infamous 'Frances the Mute' album pressed on glow-in-the-dark vinyl. I'm always on the lookout for the new stuff and lovingly embrace the classic stuff. I'm here to help you be on the forefront of this vinyl resurgence. Give me a shout on twitter!
