Chris Schlarb – Dropsy // Joyful Noise Recordings [LTD To 500]

Joyful Noise Recordings will release Chris Schlarb’s soundtrack to the video game Dropsy on August 21st.

Dropsy is an adventure game about a mute, handless clown named Dropsy. Jay Tholen, the creator of Dropsy, asked his friend Chris Schlarb to write the music for his new game. The soundtrack was composed almost entirely on piano and will be released via Joyful Noise Recordings on August 21st.

A few years ago my friend Jay Tholen asked me to write music for his adventure game about a mute, handless clown named Dropsy. We talked about junkyards and circus tents, we looked at photos of open country roads and graffiti and neon lights. Jay showed me his early pixel landscapes and it made me think, perhaps video games represented a type of modern folk art. He embraced the limitations of medium and created something honest and beautiful. I wanted to do the same with the soundtrack. -Chris Schlarb

Dropsy will be limited to a one-time pressing of 500 copies on yellow inside of transparent orange vinyl.

About The Author

My vinyl obsession began with a few records that were given to me as a gift. Little did I know that this was the spark that would merge my impulsive habit of collecting things and love for music into my new passion. My claim to fame? Owning all of The Mars Volta's studio releases, including the infamous 'Frances the Mute' album pressed on glow-in-the-dark vinyl. I'm always on the lookout for the new stuff and lovingly embrace the classic stuff. I'm here to help you be on the forefront of this vinyl resurgence. Give me a shout on twitter!
